Ignazio Messina & Co.

Ignazio Messina & C is an Italian based shipping line trading in South Africa for the past 18 years and trading in Maputo during the past six years. We operate four ro-ro vessel's carrying containers (all types of containers besides reefers), ro-ro vehicles and any other project cargoes for this reason we are known as the “jack of all trade“.

South African Routes

For export purpose's we load ex Durban and Maputo calling at the following port of call with direct service based on sailing frequency every 14 days.

Durban - Maputo (Mozambique) - Dar Es Salaam (Tanzania) - Mombasa (Kenya) - Jeddah (Saudi Arabia) - Marseilles (France) - Genova (Italy) and Naples (Italy)

Main Hubs

We have two main hub ports namely Jeddah and Genoa.

  • Via Jeddah, we serve ports Djibouti - Aqaba - Port Sudan - Massawa - Hodeidah - Jebel Ali - Abu Dhabi - Bandar Abbas - Mundra - Muscat - Karachi - Baharain - Doha - and Kuwait.
  • Via Genova, we serve ports Alexandria - Beirut - Misurata - Tripoli - Benghazi - Tunis - Malta - Castellon - Barcelona and Algiers.

From the above, you can see that we are a shipping line trading into Africa, Red Sea, Gulf and Med region. We are the only line that is trading direct into the Med ports (namely Marseilles - Genova and Naples), our competition serves these Med ports via Algerciras or Las Palmas.
