Overview

FPT (Moçambique), Lda is a subsidiary of Fresh Produce Terminals that owns and manages the fruit and fresh produce terminals in the port of Maputo. With the strong fruit growing industry in Mpumalanga and the rest of the region, FPT (Moçambique), Lda is a major stakeholder in the MDC.

With an initial capacity of 95 000 pallets a year, FPT (Moçambique), Lda has undertaken expansion plans of 200 000 pallets a year, or the equivalent of 30% of total fresh produce exports from South Africa, following an agreement signed between MDHC and Capespan - the South African world class marketing leader of fresh fruit.

In May of 2001, the cooling capacity was was expanded from 2500 pallets to 3500 pallets at a cost of ZAR 3,5 million.
